Deans Helping Deans
We are involved in a great experiment for the International Council of Fine Arts Deans' annual meeting on November 8- 11 at Boston Marriott Copley Place Hotel. I hope you will attend. This year is particularly exciting because our meeting will be held in conjunction with that of the Council of Colleges of Arts and Sciences (CCAS). In addition to creating several panels that focus on arts issues, CCAS has collaborated with us to formulate case studies and host outstanding presenters including Howard Gardner and Elizabeth Langland. We encourage ICFAD and CCAS members alike to participate in these joint sessions. Please also plan to attend ICFAD's pre-conference workshop on tenure and evaluation of artists/performers, to be led by Ann Calvert of University of Calgary and Jeffrey Huberman of Bradley University. Bring your P&T specialists. Gunther Schuller will present the keynote address during our own opening luncheon and we will spend an afternoon at noted arts facilities in Boston. The 2006 annual meeting, themed Deans Helping Deans, promises to be particularly enriching for those of us who have fine arts programs in our colleges. Please plan to join us for a great conference in Boston!
